The Satzoomer is what we call her. The little Mazda mx5 mk1.
Registered in the UK in 2001 September, built in 1993, this is a Mazda Eunos import from Japan, Chassis series NA6, originally it was a British racing green colour, but during the rebuild, it is now “Audi Gluto Orange”, it had a hard top for all it’s life, so no leaking hood to cause rust inside, plus the fact that it’s a Japanese import, it has had less exposure to the salty road conditions we get over here in the UK, and especially up on the pennines in South Yorkshire where we come from – so not any rust and solid underneith – nice and rigid
The car was built by Dan Turbard – who raced in the ma5da racing series up until this year 2011. It came up for sale at the end of the summer, having only raced one meeting at Brands Hatch – I knew she was a good buy and would save us hours of toil working in a cold freezing garage over the winter months, getting it ready to race.
The specification for the mx5 racing is pretty tight – for safety reasons and for close racing between cars – so very good all round reasons really.
